ARTIFICIAL
HAIR Ladies were very much into having a hairpiece ready
for any occasion. All was human hair but they called it artificial
whether it was of their own cutting or someone elses. Human hair
is hard to deal with---the price is higher and it almost takes lacquer
to hold a curl. I spent several years searching for hairpieces that
would be low maintenance and reasonably priced. They are synthetic
but have a memory lock to hold the curls. If they start to droop
after a few wearings, they can be spray misted with water and will shrink
the curls back up!!! Oh and by the way, an advertisement in
Godey's Magazine, June 1865 listed Grecian curls arranged on a comb, from
$7.00 to $25.00!!!
